Join the Danish Trade Union Development Agency (DTDA) as a committed Programme Officer in our Arusha, Tanzania office, partnering with eight countries across Eastern and Southern Africa.
About Us:
DTDA is the development arm of the Danish trade union movement, aligning its mission with the International Labour Organization’s Decent Work Agenda. Our efforts focus on fostering decent employment, ensuring workplace rights, enhancing social protection, and encouraging social dialogue. Collaborating with trade unions in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East, we work with trade unions to make them catalysts for change within their national and regional labour markets, advocating for a just transition for all. DTDA is in the Danish Labour Market Consortium (LMC) with the trade union, 3F and Confederation of Danish Industry.
As Programme Officer, you will deliver tailored advisory services to our partners in East Africa, strengthening their capabilities and ensuring seamless program implementation.
You should have at least a relevant bachelor's degree. Experience working with trade unions or other parts of the labour market is an advantage. Additionally, experience in coordinating programmes in partnership with international partners would be beneficial.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the implementation of activities, ensuring cohesive coordination across programs and partners in alignment with operational plans, budgets, and DTDA guidelines. Alert the Head of SRO to any inconsistencies.
- Offer technical guidance on partner reports and project administration, supporting report generation and updating Labour Market Profiles.
- Oversee the financial management of programs alongside the Regional Financial and Administrative Officer and Head of SRO.
- Contribute to developing new projects by crafting proposals, budgets, TORs, and contracts.
- Engage in meetings with partner organisations and stakeholders, drafting minutes when necessary.
- Coordinate logistics for activities, including study trips, evaluations, and missions.
- Keep the Head of SRO informed of pertinent political, economic, and social shifts, focusing on labour market dynamics.
- Collaborate with the Communication and Information Department in Denmark to highlight stories and provide content for DTDA’s digital platforms.
- Undertake additional tasks as directed by the Head of SRO.
- Train and build the capacity of staff and members from partner organisations.
